What is a Learning Disability?

A learning disability is a neurological disorder in which children may have processing problems that interfere with learning basic skills, such as reading, writing or math. These can also interfere with higher level skills, including organization, time management, reasoning, memory, and attention. 

What are the Types?

Learning disabilities are not usually recognized until children reach schooling years, or when they begin to read and write. However, in some cases, signs and symptoms can start later in life. There are many types of learning disabilities. Below are the most common types:

They may write their letters in reverse or have trouble recalling how letters are formed. Dysgraphia generally appears when children are first learning to write. 
  • Dyscalculia – Dyscalculia is difficulty in learning or comprehending arithmetic, such as difficulty in understanding numbers, learning how to manipulate numbers, performing mathematical calculations and learning facts in mathematics.
