Listen to your body

- In what areas of my life do I need to slow down or establish boundaries in order to support my mental health?
Nourish your body
Believe it or not, your mental health and physical health are directly correlated. To nourish your mind, you must first nourish your body.
Nourish your body by eating nutrient-rich, well-balanced meals. Make sure your meals contain a protein, carb, fat, and vegetable. Some brain-healthy veggies include leafy greens, like kale, spinach, and broccoli.
Exercise is also an important part of maintaining good mental health, as it helps us produce feel-good endorphins. Aim for 30-60 minutes of physical activity every day!
Finally, ensure you’re getting 6-8 hours of sleep every night. A lack of sleep can take its toll on your mental health.
Surround yourself with supportive people
Even for introverts, human interaction is important. For humans, socialization is a basic need, just as food and water are. In 2023, make it a priority to surround yourself with people who love and support you — people who lift you up when you aren’t feeling your best!
If you’re not a social butterfly, try to at least schedule one social outing per week. Meet old friends for dinner or join a club. You’ll notice a difference in your mental health when you’re surrounded by people with shared values and interests. Remember, friendships should enrich our lives — not cause unnecessary stress!
