Geo Psychological Testing: Our Specialties

Geo Psychological Testing: Our Specialities

At Geo Psychological Testing, we offer a wide range of services but our specialities include psychological assessments such as Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Learning Disabilities. Geo Psychological Testing breaks down each of these:

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

According to the CDC, about 6 million American children have been diagnosed with ADHD, an atypical neurological disorder. Children with ADHD often struggle with attention/focus, impulsivity, restlessness, and more.

The licensed clinical psychologists at Geo Psychological Testing specialize in ADHD testing. Our professionals assess clients in three key areas: inattentiveness, hyperactiveness, and impulsiveness. For children who are easily distracted, struggle with staying on task, have difficulty following directions, fidget, act without thinking, interrupt others, and lose their patience easily, an ADHD diagnosis could provide better insight into the appropriate developmental and educational accommodations.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

According to the CDC, over 75,000,000 million people have been diagnosed with ASD — that’s 1% of the world’s population! ASD is characterized by a series of social challenges, repetitive behaviors, speech issues, and nonverbal communication. Because it is a spectrum disorder, symptoms of autism vary in severity.

When evaluating children for ASD, the professionals at Geo Psychological Testing look for social challenges and restricted and repetitive behaviors. Children with ASD may struggle with spoken language, decoding gestures and facial expressions, making eye contact with others, expressing their emotions, understanding and respecting personal space, and more. Children with ASD also display repetitive body movements, make repetitive motions with objects, prefer habit/ritual, resist change, etc.

Learning Disabilities

According to Cross River Therapy, 4 million American children have learning disabilities. Learning disabilities are neurological disorders that affect one’s processing abilities, which interferes with learning skills like reading, writing, and math (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia). Learning disabilities can also affect reasoning, memory, time management, etc.

When evaluating children for learning disabilities, our professionals are looking for an inability to read fluently, put thoughts on paper, match letters with sounds, spell words correctly, write clearly and legibly, understand and manipulate numbers, perform basic math calculations, etc.
