Dementia & Geriatric Neurocognitive Testing

Dementia is a progressive disease in which a deterioration of memory function, thinking, and behavior occur, interrupting one’s ability to complete everyday activities. There are currently around 50 million people worldwide with dementia and nearly 10 million new cases are reported each year. Dementia has a large physical, psychological, social, and economic impact on the lives of both the afflicted individual as well as their families and supporters.

Geriatric neurocognitive testing identifies an elderly person’s ability to drive, work, and live independently. Through the use of memory and cognitive assessments, we can test for suspected neurologic or neuropsychiatric disorders including, but not limited to:

  • Memory disorders
  • Dementia
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Stroke
  • Brain tumors
  • Neurocognitive and behavioral impairments resulting from physical illness

These tests also have many other benefits for all parties involved. These include:

  • The ability for doctors to differentiate between memory disorder and other issues that can mimic the symptoms of dementia
  • Assisting treatment providers in making decisions about the care needed for the patient
  • Guide activity planning
  • Provide information to friends and families and provide them with helpful resources and information

Dementia can be an extremely difficult time for families to navigate. Visit Geo Psychological Testing to take advantage of our Geriatric Neurocognitive Testing options
